Whether you’re looking to build a second floor, create a guest bedroom and en suite or a relaxing living space, Buildwyse Constructions can make your plans a reality.
Your Buildwyse extension will improve and enhance your home
A Buildwyse home addition will have both interior and exterior in keeping with the character of the home you love. Over more than 25 years we’ve worked with all sizes, styles and ages of homes all over the city from the latest ultra-modern contemporary residences right back to Victorian, Federation, Art Deco and Modernist buildings. We have a network of heritage craftsmen to work on your older Sydney home, and for larger or more significant projects we can engage a heritage architect to ensure design integrity and authenticity.
For newer homes we are right on top with current trends and can offer the best ideas and design touches to make your home extension as liveable and enjoyable as it can be.
We work efficiently to get the job done
Most of our clients are living in their home while we are working on their extension. We know that this can be a stressful situation at the best of times. That’s why director and project manager Scott Wellings is always onsite to provide consultation and liaison throughout the project. He ensures your worksite runs smoothly from start to finish so you can enjoy your extended home as soon as possible.
An experienced builder can foresee challenges before they arise
Although extensions are usually on the same level as the home, we’re often adding a floor on top of or even under the building. This is where existing structural problems can present big challenges. Rarely visible to the naked eye, older buildings in particular can have hidden issues that take the years of experience of a senior master builder to spot, plan for and, importantly, quote you for. There is probably no construction challenge we haven’t encountered – but we will deal with them properly, promptly and always in consultation with you.
First floor addition in Clovelly
This first floor addition to a Federation home included three bedrooms, two bathrooms, living area and rear deck. Its overall style was clean and contemporary except for a period awning detail which matched the facade of the original home.
Modern kitchen & dining with patio
We built a contemporary single-storey addition to the rear of a semi-detached Victorian home in Dulwich Hill which included a kitchen/dining area and a covered patio.
Open plan kitchen/living extension features raked ceiling with V-joint panelling
We demolished the rear living room of this Lilyfield property along with a separate garage. The new addition included an open-plan kitchen with a walk-in butler’s pantry, plus a dining and living area. The extension was spanned by a handcut timber roof with exposed rafters and raked ceiling clad in V-jointed panelling. Other construction included a new bathroom and a new freestanding weatherboard double garage.
